My first time competing in a Marathon is definitely a race that is forever going to bring a massive smile to my face. I finished in a time of 2hrs 43 min 57 seconds which crowned me the 2014 Australian Marathon Champion and was a 2015 World Championships qualifying time. For a full race report:

Maps present space, which is removed from any real experience we are able to have at that space. They code a reality we know but can never realise for ourselves. Navigating with a map used to be a performance, with the journey traced out and rehearsed throughout the pages of a street directory. Today’s GPS devices rely on satellites to do the rehearsing for us. Tiny screens only show us the immediate space in front of us in which to perform. We can observe our pointer position moving on the screen, however we gain no multi-sensory experience of actually moving through it. We are both #LOST in and without GPS devices. Visit the Phyllis Palmer Gallery to explore the physical and sensory experiences of moving through maps in Mapping Bendigo, opening 2 July.
